Concept Mixology

[Concept Fields] are sets of concepts that may be mixed together in simple and complex ways. They are mixed together throughout the Small-Infinities website and poured into small containers in the Surfaces blog.

A small collection is poured out onto this page because they suggest the kinds of things that you can expect to encounter in a variety of combinations in Small-Infinities.

Throughout Small-Infinities some of the concept fields are combined to evoke mental spaces. Sometimes the concepts are related to each other in fairly clear ways. Sometimes their relationship is not so obvious: they point to something else, perhaps unstated, perhaps undiscovered. Sometimes they are randomly generated. They can be combined and recombined in a small infinity of ways to create a small infinity of spaces to visit, think about and explore.

For example, one concept field for the text you are reading now might be [combinatorics, spaces, mixology, stochastic, concept formation, replay-ability, infinite, evocation, triangulation, Installation Art]. Why those concepts? Some of them are included for obvious reasons. Others, like Installation Art, evoke a non-obvious connection that may be explored (“How can concepts be represented to form the components of an artistic installation”). Still others, like replay-ability, are selected at random to produce an unexcepted space to experience, to visit, to think in and to explore.
